In this week's edition of Gary Glenn Reports, Rep. Glenn offers a detailed description of the free market, competition, and consumer choice-based energy reform package he'll be introducing in September when school classes resume.
The flagship element of the plan will be to give all K-12 schools and colleges equal access to the opportunity to save taxpayers money by buying electricity from a cheaper alternative to the two major utilities, Consumers Energy and Detroit Edison. Currently, for example, Bay City Schools save $200,000 a year, while Midland County schools are by law blocked from accessing similar savings. That should end.
Rep. Glenn also talks about hosting a meeting of the Michigan Legislative Hispanic Caucus in Midland next week, including a tour of Dow Chemical and "Latino Night at the Loons" baseball game Friday night.
