The city of Midland has been named "the best place to live in Michigan" by a national real estate and relocation firm.
State Representative Gary Glenn of Midland congratulated the city's business, community, and local government leaders, but said it's more than just a distinction of community pride. "This kind of national recognition will help boost what should be our top priority, to strengthen our economy by attracting new business and industry and creating more jobs for residents of the entire Great Lakes Bay region," Glenn said.
Midland's crime rate is 53 percent below the average in Michigan, with media household income that's five percent higher than average in the state and a cost of living that's five percent lower, according to San Francisco-based Movoto Real Estate, which says the fact that Midland has "neat places like Dow Gardens and the Dow Diamond baseball park only sweeten the deal."
Midland is the only mid-Michigan city listed in the top ten ranking. Novi, Canton, Portage, and Ann Arbor round out the top five.
