(Rep. Gary) Glenn’s 2016 campaign last week continued to pick up endorsements and/or financial support:
• RUSH PAC, the Rural and Urban Streets and Highways Political Action Committee of the County Road Association of Michigan, is urging taxpayers to support the first-term lawmaker’s 2016 candidacy. PAC treasurer Denise Donohue wrote, “RUSH PAC is impressed by your understanding of local roads and bridges, and we are confident that you will translate that knowledge into action in the next legislative session.”
• Friends of Corn PAC, the political arm of the Michigan Corn Growers Association, endorsed Glenn. “The MCGA is a grassroots organization of corn growers which endorses candidates who demonstrate strong support for Michigan’s agriculture sector and support policies that are important to the continued growth of our industry,” MCGA executive director James Zook wrote.
• Glenn received a $1,000 contribution from The Dow Chemical Company Employees PAC, which did not support Glenn’s candidacy in 2014. Over the last two years, however, as vice chairman of the House Energy Policy Committee, Glenn has emerged as the leading voice in the state House in support of energy policy reforms that would reduce Dow’s electricity costs, the company’s largest single cost of doing business. “More competitive energy costs are key to protecting the manufacturing jobs we have in mid-Michigan now, and to attracting the creation of new jobs we need in the future,” Glenn said. “Enacting energy policy reforms that will help protect Dow employees from further job loss will remain my highest priority in Lansing.”
