MIDLAND DAILY NEWS: Political Roundup

• [Rep. Gary] Glenn attended the annual first responders recognition banquet sponsored by the Carl and Esther Gerstacker Foundation and Midland Exchange Club. Glenn said first responders are responsible for “the sense of personal safety and security that residents rank among the leading benefits of living in this community.”

• Glenn participated in a candidate forum sponsored by The Arc of Midland, which serves citizens who have disabilities. He told attendees about a letter he wrote to Community Health officials last year at The Arc’s request, which improved support services for a disabled Midland resident while reducing the cost to taxpayers by over 90 percent. Glenn also said he is pro-life and believes “it’s wrong to end the life of a prenatal child because it’s found to have Down Syndrome or some other physical or mental disability.” He said he believes the Second Amendment applies to individual Americans, so that vulnerable disabled citizens — if they’re comfortable doing so — are protected in the right to own a firearm when they might otherwise be physically unable to defend themselves.

• Glenn attended the annual fundraising banquet for the Pregnancy Resource Center of Midland, a faith-based non-profit which provides financial and other support to pregnant women as an alternative to abortion.

• Glenn has received the following endorsements:

- National Association for Gun Rights

- Michigan Milk Producers Association political committee.
