MIDLAND DAILY NEWS | Midland pastor offers opening prayer at State House of Representatives

Pastor Jim Payne of Midland, who has served as senior pastor of Midland Baptist Church on Jefferson Avenue for 23 years, recently offered the opening prayer for the state House of Representatives in Lansing.

Payne was invited to pray by state Rep. Gary Glenn, R-Midland, who is a member of Midland Baptist.

Glenn said that afterwards, the chief Sergeant at Arms told Payne that the prayer was the best he’d ever heard in the state Capitol.

“It was an honor to hear my pastor present the full gospel of Jesus Christ, the timeless values of America’s founding and seek blessings on our state and nation and elected officials, all in one powerful prayer,” Glenn said.
